JAH GOMM comprises a collaboration between James Alec Hardy (James III) and Dan Allison (GOMM, BAG, Brickface) following an ongoing creative connection of 15 years. Both have consistently worked in corners of DIY, Drone, Punk and Noise, until they arrived here.

This album, titled 211215, is an exploration of sound as physical, noise as structure, distortion as environment. JAH GOMM explore textures and layers of worldbuilding whilst concurrently dismantling them, 211215 is a simultaneous meeting of architects and vandals.

James Alec Hardy has been performing since 2002, his practice is experimental analogue video production, cross-connected with live sound manipulation.
His visual language and screen-culture critique, has recently immersed his production into metaverse spaces utilising blockchain technologies, where he is paving the way for sound design and performance to evolve.

Dan Allison explores the substratum of sound with his various audio based projects, most committedly in sound and spoken word project BAG. Last year BAG played live at Iklectik and also as part of The London Jazz Festival.

"An unnerving swirl of electronic frequencies collapse into something akin to an orchestra of detuned police sirens. 211215 ends in intensity, in such borderline violence that you immediately want to restart the tape to retrace the steps leading up to the accident. JAH GOMM is the duo of James Alec Hardy and GOMM, aka Dan Allison, who’s also a member of Spool’s Out favourites BAG, and these tracks were recorded in a single day, locked in the same room together with four synths and nothing else. The first side, ‘Recto’, is a whirlpool of razor-edged drones, groans and growls, a torrent of doom-laden frequency which swirls angrily into the void. The b-side feels more cut and spliced from discrete events. An electronic pulse like a dripping tap jumping into an air sucking bass pulse. Just before the crescendo comes the tape’s most melodic moment, a simple key melody which would sound sweet anywhere else but here ends up perturbing. These juxtapositions are what make the final detonation so cathartically jarring. The duo bridge the gap between Wolf Eyes and Thomas Ankersmit, bringing the former’s DIY shock sonics into the latter’s high definition sound architecture and vice versa. Wielding frequencies to bend the mood of the space they’re in.

On the final track I was finishing the part in Call of Cthulhu where Johansen’s strange and horrific journey to R’lyeh is being recalled. It’s described as an ancient cyclopean city of non Euclidean geometry that no human could build. Angles and perspectives are constantly shifting. I think it fits perfectly with the final track that mentions the Fata Morgana. Dionysus Virus
